02/01/2004: "Counterfeit Latte/Counterfeit Cappuccino?"
Does anyone else feel that the Dunkin Donuts ads regarding so-called counterfeit lattes, etc. are just a little stupid? As if Dunkin Donuts, a fast-food place to the core, could claim to have the ‘real thing’. I don’t wish to make a claim regarding other establishments by any means. But in terms of being real currency, do you think ‘caramel swirl’ and ‘chocolate swirl’ are like their Italian forebears in anything but name? The best coffee drinks are made at home with love and care, especially when they are shared with friends and family. Any establishment that hangs signs limiting guests’ stay to 15 min. cannot claim to be a real coffeehouse, much less to have set the curve for authentic beverages.
